General Information
Any Oscar Smith band student can join - woodwinds, brass, percussion, or color guard. Students not currently enrolled in a music class should contact the Band Director for eligibility options.
High school band is where students see their hard work pay off. They get to perform exciting music, travel, and be part of a supportive team that fosters leadership, pride, and school spirit. It’s more than just music - it’s a family.
The Mighty Marching Tigers are the heart of the Oscar Smith High School marching band program, performing at football games, parades, school events, and regional competitions. Through participation, students develop musicianship, leadership, discipline, and lifelong friendships.
While some guard members are part of the Concert and Symphonic band programs, enrollment is not required for participation in the Color Guard.

Football games typically end three hours after kickoff (usually 7:00 PM). Parents will be notified via the Band App when students are ready for pickup.
On Varsity game days, the band may perform as a pep band during the school day.
Home Games: Students remain after school and meet in the band room for uniforming and preparation. The band performs in the stands before and during the first half, as well as the fourth quarter. The field show may be performed at halftime. During the third quarter, students take a break to enjoy concessions. After the game, the band marches back to the band room to store equipment and uniforms.
Away Games: Students remain after school and prepare for departure. The band travels together via a school-provided bus to the visiting stadium.
